If you're considering laser hair removal, it's important to know that proper care is crucial for achieving the best results and minimizing potential side effects. Here are some laser hair removal care tips:
Pre-Care
The area to be treated must be clean shaved 24 hours before your appointment.
Do not apply any cream lotion, make-up, ail or deodorant on the day of your session.
Avoid UV exposure 7 days prior to your treatment to avoid skin damage.
Avoid sunless tanning products 7 days prior to your treatment. It is recommended that exfoliate the area to remove any residue colour.
Avoid any chemical peels and other laser procedures in the area to be treated for prior and 2 weeks after your laser treatment.
Clients should not perform any physical activity that increases body temperature or blood pressure within 2 hours before and after their treatment.
Clients who have used Accutane within the last 12 months CANNOT have laser hair removal treatment.
Clients must stop waxing. tweezing and chemical epilation upto 6 weeks prior to their treatment.
Clients with active cold sores cannot be treated. if the client has Botox or Dermal fillers in the areas to be treated wait 14 days both before and after injections to receive their treatments.
Avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta-hydroxy products (AHA/BHA) hydroquinone, retinol Tazorac and Differin for 7 days before your treatment.
Clients with eczema keloid scarring, any abnormal lesion tattoos, mole or spots on the areas to be treated must be declared by the client and examined by the technician.
If a client becomes ill and begins to take antibiotics, they will need to be off the medication for 7 to 14 days before their laser treatment, depending on the course of their prescription.
Treatments CANNOT be conducted if you are pregnant.
Post-Care
Avoid picking/ scratching the treated skin. Do not use any other hair removal treatment products or services (waxing. electrolysis. tweezing) that will disturb the hair follicle in the treatment area.
Avoid heat such as hot baths or showers saunas and steam room for 24 hours.
Scrub/Exfoliate the treated area 5 days after your treatment.
Anywhere from 5 to 20 days after the treatment, shedding of the surface hair may occur and will appear as new hair growth. This is not new hair growth.
Avoid vigorous exercise and swimming as the chemicals in the water may cause irritation for 48 hours.
Avoid extended UV exposure for 7 days post treatment.
